Jonathan G. Strickland (Jon) leads the firm’s business valuation and litigation support practice.  Jon’s experience includes preparing business valuations for the purchase and sale of businesses, estate planning and filings, equitable distribution of property and other litigation matters.  In addition to his applied business valuation experience, Jon has earned the ABV (Accredited in Business Valuation) designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the CVA (Certified Valuation Analyst) accreditation by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.  Jon has also earned the BVAL (Business Valuator Accredited for Litigation) accreditation from the Institute of Business Appraisers.

Jon also specializes in financial and tax planning and compliance with experience in personal and business taxation areas including corporations, partnerships and sole proprietorships.  He has lectured at numerous financial, tax and strategic planning seminars.  Jon’s expertise has been called upon in deposition and court testimony for both business valuations and tax issues.

Jon joined the firm in 1994 and became a principal in the firm in December 1996.  A 1988 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, Jon began his career in the Charlotte office of Ernst & Young, LLP.  There he worked in both the audit and tax departments before transferring to the Raleigh office in 1990.  As tax manager at Ernst & Young, LLP, his expertise focused on servicing small and large businesses in the manufacturing, health care, insurance and service fields.

Jon is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and the Institute of Business Appraisers.  He has served terms as treasurer and president of the North Raleigh Kiwanis Club.  In addition, Jon is a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church and serves on the finance and endowment committees.

Jon enjoys both water and snow skiing.  He resides in Raleigh with his wife, Jill, and daughters, Maggie and Lindsay.
