John H. Lunsford is a 1979 honors graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music where he received a Bachelor of Music degree, and a 1982 graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Master of Music degree. In 1988 he completed accounting coursework at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and became a CPA in 1990.  His background encompasses over 18 years of tax experience with Ernst & Young, LLP, McGladrey & Pullen, and Lunsford & Strickland, P.A.

John joined Lunsford & Strickland, P.A. in 1992 and became a principal in January, 1994. His experience encompasses a wide range of areas with particular emphasis on tax, estate and succession planning for individuals and businesses, real estate transactions, and partnership and S corporation issues. He has assisted business and individual clients with both domestic and foreign tax issues.  A frequent lecturer on these areas of tax law, John also coordinates the firm's tax practice.

John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.  John serves on the board of Urban Ministries of Wake County as Treasurer. He often performs with the North Carolina Symphony and is an avid bicyclist and skier. John lives in Raleigh with his wife, Beth, and daughters, Erin and Molly.
