James H. Hayne (Jim) Jim joined Lunsford and Strickland, P.A. in 2001 bringing with him a blend of both public accounting and industry experience.  Jim became a shareholder in 2003 and currently leads the firm’s audit and accounting practice as well as providing tax and consulting services.

Jim earned a B.A. in Accounting from North Carolina State University in 1988.  Jim was recognized as being the third graduate from N.C. State to successfully complete the Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and Certified Internal Auditor examinations.   

After graduating, Jim worked as a financial and computer auditor with the Raleigh office of Ernst & Young, LLP.   After leaving E&Y, Jim spent ten years in industry where he worked with both privately held and publicly traded bio-technology and information technology companies including serving as CFO for four software companies.  Jim has significant experience consulting and advising a wide range of small and mid-size companies and organizations.  Jim’s experience includes working with individuals and companies in a wide variety of industries including bio-technology, software development, manufacturing, construction, real estate, governmental, and non-profit.

Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Management Accountants.  Jim is an active member of Westwood Baptist Church and, as a member of Westwood and prior churches, has served on various church committees, taught Sunday school, served on and chaired capital stewardship campaigns, and served as Treasurer.  Jim has also volunteered his services to various non-profit groups and currently serves on the Board of Directors and the finance committee for Triangle Family Services. In addition, Jim has volunteered to coach recreational soccer and basketball teams.

Jim resides in Apex with his wife, Emily, and children Jay, Kathryn and Harrison.
